Begin by covering a 9x9x4 inch square cake with white Satin Ice Fondant.  Next, cover a 13x13 square cake drum with pale green fondant and roll with a Watermark Taffeta Roller by Holly Products to create texture.  Place the cake on the board.

Using white Mexican Paste, cut out 28-30 stacked cupcakes from the Teddy Bear Picnic set by Patchwork Cutters.  Allow to dry thoroughly on a CelPad.  The sponge pad allows air to circulate and the paste will not stick to it. When dry, paint the base of each cupcake with Canary Yellow petal dust that has been thinned with a little Everclear or other spirit.  The cherries on each cupcake where brushed with Cosmos petal dust that was thinned with Everclear.  Thin some Snow Sparkle dust or White Disco Dust with Everclear and paint the top of each cupcake to make the effect of a glittering icing top. Finally, paint the base plate of each set of cupcakes with Cocoa petal dust & Everclear.  Set of aside to dry.

Choose the colors of your bears.  I used golden yellow, green and fuchsia. Color your Mexican paste accordingly and cut out several bears (extras in case of breakage).  When the bears have dried, cut out a second set of bears the same color as the original bears.  Brush the back of each dried bear with water and add a second bear so that each has two layers.  Slide a toothpick in between the layers and seal all around it very well.  Gently squeeze the edges together to form a solid seam.  Allow to dry thoroughly. When dried, color them with petal dusts and attach a bow on each.

The honey pots, sandwiches, fruit bowl, blue bows, cake, mole and teapot set were all cut from Mexican paste and dried.  A second layer was added to each item as well as a toothpick so they could be inserted in the cake.  The teapot set was brushed with Super Pearl dust and outlined with Gold Highlighter thinned with Everclear.  All the others were colored with appropriate colors of petal dusts.   I chose to have the mole coming out from under the quilt to steal a cupcake.

Using the Patchwork Cutters Butterflies-Ladybugs & Bees Set, cut out several medium sized butterflies out of white Mexican Paste and dry upside down on a fan-folded piece of paper.  I always attach as small strip of paste to the back of the butterflies so they do not break as easily.  When dry, brush them with Magenta, Yellow or Turquoise  petal or luster dust.  You can paint the bodies with a darker color if you wish.  Brush the finished butterflies with White Disco dust or Snow sparkle.

The twisted rope border was made using a Sugarcraft Gun and a 50/50 mixture of gumpaste & fondant.  I used pink, teal and yellow for the rope. Using the smaller 3 lobbed disc, squeeze out each color and set aside (covered with plastic) until you have all three colors extruded.  Cut a 4-5 inch length of each color and gently twist them together.  Attach to the cake with a little water.  Finish with a blue bow.

Roll out a long sausage of teal colored fondant and attached it to the base of the cake with a little water.  Attach the finished cupcake stacks with water so they stand up.

Roll out a light green piece of fondant and emboss it with the Patchwork Cutters Quilting Embosser.  Cut out the quilt a little larger than the embossed section.  Emboss the edges with the smallest butterfly or bee from the butterfly set and snip the ends to resemble a hand-tied quilt. Lightly color the gathers of the quilt with small dots of yellow, turquoise and pink petal dust.  Brush over the whole quilt with Super Pearl dust to finish.

Lay the quilt on the cake and attach with a little water.  Gently push the bears in as well as the honey pots, tea set, cake, sandwiches & fruit bowl.  Attached the finished butterflies with a dot of royal icing.
