Shipping FAQ


Estimated transit days are BUSINESS days, including weekends and holidays.

UPS Ground, 2nd Day and Next Day air do not deliver to PO boxes. Please provide your physical delivery address.

THE TRANSIT DAYS ON THIS UPS MAP ARE ONLY AN ESTIMATE. THE ACUTUAL TRANSIT TIME IN DAYS IS DEPENDANT ON WHEN YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER, HOLIDAYS, WEEKENDS AND WEATHER CONDITIONS. The day you place your order is not considered a transit day by UPS.

UPS SUREPOST is not the same as UPS Ground.  SurePost uses UPS to deliver the package to your local post office, then your carrier will deliver your package to you.  This generally takes 1-2 days longer than UPS ground.  The delivery time chart by UPS is not applicable with SurePost.

  • Q:

    How to determine an estimated delivery date for UPS?+

    A:

    If you place your order before 1:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time, your order will USUALLY ship the same day but it is not guaranteed. The following day is considered the first day of UPS Transit. If you place your order after 1:00 PM. EST, the order will ship the following day and the day after that is considered Day 1 in Transit. Here are two examples:

    An order placed on Tuesday before 1:00 PM, shipping to North Carolina, will USUALLY ship the same day. Wednesday will be considered Day 1 by UPS. It is 3 days transit to North Carolina so the order will be delivered on Friday. If the order was placed on Tuesday, it would be delivered the following Monday. There is no UPS delivery on weekends and weekends are not considered IN TRANSIT days.

    If an order was placed after 1:00 PM on Tuesday, shipping to North Carolina, it would ship out on Wednesday. Thursday would be considered Day 1 in Transit and the order would therefore be delivered the following Monday.

    Any orders placed after 1:00 PM, EST, on Friday or on the weekend, will ship out on Monday or Tuesday depending on the volume of orders. The earlier you place your order over the weekend, the more likely it will ship on Monday. If you place an order on the weekend or after 1:00 PM on Friday and choose UPS Next Day Air it will arrive on Tuesday. If you choose UPS 2nd Day Air, it will arrive on Wednesday.

    How does EXPEDITED SHIPPING work?+

    A:

    Here are examples of expedited UPS delivery options.

    A UPS Next Day order placed before 1:00 pm EST on Monday will be delivered on Tuesday. A UPS NEXT DAY order placed on Friday before 1:00 pm EST will arrive on MONDAY.

    A UPS 2nd Day Air order placed before 1:00 pm EST on Monday will be delivered on Wednesday. If the order is placed after 3:00 pm EST, add one more day to your shipping. UPS does not deliver on Weekends or Holidays, therefore a UPS 2nd Day Air order placed on Thursday will be delivered on Monday and a Friday order will be delivered on Tuesday.

    Is a signature required for delivery?+

    A:

    The only time a signature is required by Global Sugar Art is for high value orders, expedited orders and any order we feel needs verification of delivery. Occasionally, UPS will insist on a signature if they feel the package cannot be left in a safe zone. UPS will make three attempts for a signature before the order is returned to our warehouse. We do not refund this shipping costs and we do not re-ship the item without charging.

    Has my order shipped?+

    A:

    If you place your order by 1:00 PM EST, we generally ship the same day or the next business day on very busy days. Orders placed on Mondays generally ship on Tuesday. If your order is placed late Friday or on the weekend, it will not ship until Monday. You will receive an email with a tracking number once the order is shipped. You must wait 24 hours for UPS to have the tracking information on their website. The package cannot be tracked on the first day.

    We cannot ship orders on holidays when UPS or the US postal service is closed. If you place your order 1-2 days before a holiday, your order may ship as late as 4-5 days after the holiday, especially if the holiday falls near the weekend. It is best to call us if you need your order in a timely manner during any holiday time.

    If you need your order by a certain date, please place a note in the "Comments" field before submitting your order. We will call you if we cannot meet your deadline or if it requires expedited shipping. If you are not reachable by telephone or email, we will ship your order with the delivery option you chose, regardless of when it will arrive. We do not hold rush orders for call-backs because it will only delay your order more.

  • Q:

    How long does it take USPS ( US Postal Service ) to deliver orders?+

    A:

    If you choose USPS First Class Mail or Priority Mail within the continental US, delivery is usually 3-6 days BUT it can take as long as 10 days or more especially during holidays. There is NO guarantee for delivery dates with the postal service. International orders shipped via the USPS generally take 7-21 days but it is all dependant on customs within each country. A signature may be required at some addresses. You may be contacted for additional postage for oversized packages.

    How do you calculate international shipping?+

    A:

    Once you have logged into your account or registed on our website, the shopping cart will calculate shipping to your country.  Please note your billing address and shipping address must be from the same country.  We do not ship orders out of the USA if your billing address is from within the USA.

  • Q:

    I need to change my shipping address or I have entered in an incorrect address?+

    A:

    If your package has already shipped, we may be able to change the address with UPS only. If it shipped by First Class or Priority Mail, the address cannot be changed. UPS charges $12.50 to change your address once the package has shipped. If you incorrectly entered your address when placing your order or if the address is incomplete ( missing apartment or suite numbers, etc.), you will be charged an additional $12.50 to reroute your order to the correct address. If you have given us an incorrect address and the order is returned to us in original condition by the carrier, we will refund the customer for product only. The shipping costs are not refundable because we incurred the shipping expense sending to your incorrect address and we have to pay the shipping back to us.

    Rush orders or UPS next day and 2nd day air?+

    A:

    If you need an order by a certain date or you need a rush order, it is ALWAYS best to call us with your order at 800-420-6088. We always try to ship the same day but it is best to call to confirm that your order was received or that UPS has not already picked up for the day.

    The posted shipping costs for UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day are ONLY an estimate. The actual cost is based on the dimensions of the package as well as the weight and can only be calculated once the order is packed, weighed and measured. You will be called or emailed if additional shipping fees are necessary to ship your order. We highly recommend that you do not ship cake dummies, cake pans, fondant or cake stands via these methods. The larger the box, the more UPS charges for expedited shipping.

    Please remember that UPS 2nd Day Air means that your order will be delivered two business days AFTER the day of shipping. It if ships on a Thursday, you would receive it on Monday. Also, BE AWARE that UPS does not actually guarantee a delivery date in the event of bad weather, wrong addresses or holiday schedules. If you place an order to be shipped UPS Next Day Air or UPS 2nd Day Air and it does not arrive on time due to bad weather, holiday scheduling or problems locating your address, we do not refund the shipping charge because UPS does not refund it to us.

  • Q:

    What about UPS Holidays and Guaranteed Delivery?+

    A:

    UPS does not deliver on major US holidays and sometimes does not deliver the day before or the day after a holiday. Please see the UPS website for their holiday schedule. UPS also does not guarantee delivery in the event of inclimate weather or during the period of December 11th to December 24th.

  • Q:

    Coupon usage related to Shipping?+

    A:

    Global Sugar Art may offer free or discounted shipping as promotional incentives to our customers periodically No shipping coupon may be used multiple times on a single order or in conjunction with another discount. Global Sugar Art reserves the right to refuse orders because of typographical errors or omissions. Shipping coupons cannot be used on orders that are picked up from our warehouse.

  • Q:

    Orders returned to us due to Incorrect Address, Incomplete Address, or Customer Not Home?+

    A:

    If your order is returned to us due to an incorrect address, an incomplete address or the customer was not home to receive the order after three delivery attempts, we will re-ship the order with the customers permission and at the customers expense. If the customer chooses not to have the order re-shipped, there will be a 20% re-stocking charge plus the original shipping cost TO the customer and the cost to return the package to the Global Sugar Art warehouse.
